Real People...Real Stories

We are please to introduce 4 ½ year old Matthew. You may think Matthew is limited, but really he is like most every other 4 year old boy: ACTIVE.

Matthew was born with a condition that never allowed his right leg to develop just below his knee, but that has not slowed him down one bit. His love of athletics and zest for life, are truly amazing. So when Matthew is ready to go, everyone else had better be ready. If
Matthew is the first one up in the morning, he wakes up everyone else so his day can really begin with full participation from his family.

Ask Matthew's dad to describe his son, and the word he picks is "fearless." At the playground, Matthew will imitate what other kids are doing so unless you are looking for a difference, you simply would not realize he is using a prosthesis. He's nimble, he's quick, and
ready for any playground challenge.

As for sports, Matthew loves them all but has a special passion for baseball. He's been playing T-Ball for 2 years and that has earned him 2 trophies. He also loves to swim and kick around a soccer ball.

While having a child who needs a prosthetic device may have it's challenging moments, it is positively inspirational to see the opportunities Matthew's prosthetic limb has provided him. He's able to play on the playground like other children, pursue his interest in sports, and keep his parents hopping. Matthew is just 4, so maybe he hasn't learned the word "limits" yet. And we hope he never does.
