Real People...Real Stories At BioMetrics, each one of our patients has a story to tell, and Mike’s story is not all that uncommon. What may be more uncommon is how Mike has chosen to live his life since he lost his left leg above the knee 4 years ago in a motorcycle accident. Now 25 years old, Mike uses the most advanced leg in the world: the C-Leg. The C-Leg uses amazing advanced technology that Mike puts to good use. He works as a head carpenter, which involves climbing ladders and working on roofs. In addition to his full time job, Mike is also a full time student earning a degree in history and plans on becoming a teacher. In his free time, he rides a quad and dirt bikes, and plays football and basketball. Mike has also been knows to scale a rock wall or two. And just to be sure he gets the most out of life, he enjoys dancing! Mike really embraces life and tries to make the most of each day. He also understands how fortunate he is to have the opportunities the C-Leg offers. Each patient who uses a lower extremity prosthesis has their own way of making it their own and Mike is no different. As a reminder of just how much worse the outcome of his accident could have been, Mike has a small sticker of the grim reaper on his C-Leg. It’s his belief that the grim reaper tried to take his life, but he cheated him. Mike savors his victory every day by pursuing his interests with passion and commitment. His prosthesis allows Mike to live the active lifestyle that is so important to him. He is a great example of really maximizing all that life offers. At BioMetrics, we take great pride in helping patients like Mike reach their goals and feel privileged to be a part of their journey. |
